DIRECTIONS
Kings Dominion is located right off Exit 98 on Interstate 95, 20 miles north of Richmond, VA and 75 miles south of Washington, DC.
Transportation
By Air
Richmond International Airport is located at a distance of about 15 minutes from downtown. The airport ensures internal flights from over 20 major US cities and also international flights, to destinations worldwide.
On The Ground
The simplest way to get around Richmond is by car, and there will be no problems in spotting a parking space, except for some few areas, such as the "Fan District". Also, parking on the street is usually free from Monday through Friday, in the evenings, after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
Train:
there are 2 Amtrak stations in Richmond: one in downtown Richmond and the other one close to the city center, at about 10 miles west.
Bus:
Greyhound, the intercity bus service, is quite a preferable transportation option because it is not expensive and it has stations all over the city, including close to downtown.
Getting Around
Public transportation: both local and para-transit bus services are ensured by the Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC).
Alternatives: Besides public transportation, one can also get around by car, by bike or by foot. If sightseeing is the purpose of your visit, walking is, perhaps, the best choice, when it comes to getting around.
